Luxury Concierge Service Offers Private Jet Charters To COP28 in Dubai

COP28 Accommodation Dubai, a luxury concierge service, is offering elite attendees of the 2023 United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference, commonly referred to as COP28, opportunities to book private jet charters to Dubai, where the conference will take place on November 30-December 12.

The COP28, or Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), is designed to “take stock of its progress on the Paris Agreement” and to “help align efforts on climate action, including measures that need to be put in place to bridge the gaps in progress,” according to its official website.

In addition to government officials, the list of attendees usually includes diplomats, dignitaries and business elites who often arrive via private jets to an event where one of the main topics is the need for the world’s population to change some of its behaviors in order to mitigate its impact on the climate.

On a per passenger basis, private jets are 5 to 14 times more polluting than commercial planes, according to a study by Europe’s leading clean transport campaign group Transportation & Environment.

The study shows that carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from just one hour of flight time on a private jet equal about 25% of the annual emissions of the average person in the European Union (EU).

While COP28 Accommodation Dubai is promising to offset the emissions from the chartered flights using sustainable aviation fuel or planting trees, it also says that “private jets can fly to COP28 Dubai as often as needed, depending on the individual or business’s requirements,” according to its website.

For the COP27 in Egypt, about 400 private jets were used to transport attendees, according to information by The Daily Mail.

This year, some 70,000 registered attendees are expected, which is about twice as many as last year, according to COP28 Accommodation Dubai’s website.
