UAE rejects Sudan’s allegations at UN Security Council

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has rejected accusations made by Sudan at the United Nations Security Council, accusing the Gulf country of supplying weapons and ammunition to the Rapid Support Forces(RSF) that have been fighting the Sudanese for nearly a year.

In a letter to the Council President, Mohamed Abushahab, the UAE’s Deputy Permanent Representative, addressed comments from Sudan’s representative, saying that this support violates the arms embargo on Darfur.

In his letter, seen by Sudan Tribune, Abushahab refuted these claims, stating that the UAE “deeply regrets the false allegations” and emphasizing the country’s commitment to the sanctions regime. He added that the UAE has provided “comprehensive information” to the UN panel of experts monitoring the sanctions, demonstrating transparency and cooperation.
